OOYA: The healthy future of energy drinks

Many people associate energy drinks with chemical ingredients that are harmful to their health. At OOYA, we try to break these prejudices with our 100% natural and organic drinks, made in Quebec.

Obviously, you will always have to moderate your consumption of energy drinks, because they contain caffeine. However, did you know that the health consequences come not just from caffeine, but from its combination with other artificial stimulants?

OOYA illustrates a beneficial and natural future for energy drinks, so leave your fears behind and give it a try, you will be surprised!

Here is a list of misconceptions about energy drink giants that do NOT apply to OOYA:

1. High caffeine content

Traditional energy drinks typically contain very high levels of caffeine, much more than other common drinks. Excessive caffeine consumption can lead to problems such as insomnia, anxiety, heart palpitations, headaches and tremors.

At OOYA , one can contain 90 mg of caffeine, which is equivalent to a cup of filter coffee. Because OOYA energy drinks do not contain other harmful ingredients, you will not experience the negative effects that excessive caffeine consumption can cause!!

So don't worry, you can drink at least one or two OOYA per day without any problem ;)

Again, moderation is key!

2. Other stimulants

Besides caffeine, popular energy drinks often contain other stimulants such as taurine, guarana and carnitine. It is when these different stimulants are combined with caffeine that undesirable effects on health, more particularly on the nervous system and the heart, can arise when the drinks are consumed in excessive quantities.

At OOYA, we only use 4 ingredients (say goodbye to the long list of ingredients on the label!)

Our drinks contain:

  • Guayusa infusion

  • Organic cane sugar (or erythritol in sugar-free flavours)

  • Organic lemon juice

  • Natural organic flavours

EH YES! We use only one type of caffeine compared to traditional energy drinks, reducing the risks to your health. Plus, Guayusa is known to release caffeine slowly and gently throughout the day, so you won't have any palpitations after finishing your can!

3. Excess sugar

Energy drinks are often high in added sugar, which can lead to weight gain, an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, dental problems and an overall poor diet.

It is therefore recommended to limit the consumption of energy drinks rich in sugar and to favour healthier and more balanced options, such as OOYA!

At OOYA, the Original and Raspberry Watermelon flavours contain 11g and 15g of sugar per can respectively. As has been mentioned, the sugar in our drinks is organic, so adverse health effects are, again, reduced. We also offer two sugar-free options to meet everyone's needs and requests!

4. Interactions with alcohol

When mixing energy drinks with alcohol, always be careful. The stimulating effect of energy drinks can mask the effects of alcohol, which can lead to excessive consumption and risky behaviours.

As has been mentioned, at OOYA, our drinks contain only one type of caffeine, so we can compare its mixture with alcohol to a coffee with Baileys or even an espresso martini!

So, when you see our wonderful cocktail ideas, dare to try them, you'll be amazed! Mixing OOYA drinks with alcohol is perfectly fine, when consumed in moderation :)
